Assist to Appointments
There and back, with somebody alongside you.
At Debbie Anne, our "Assist to Appointments" service offers reliable transportation assistance for seniors, ensuring timely and safe travel to and from essential medical and personal appointments. With our compassionate team, we prioritize your comfort and peace of mind, making each journey a stress-free experience. Trust us to facilitate your travel needs while you focus on what truly matters—your health and well-being.

What’s included
- Being with you in good time, with the letter, the card and the tablet list found and in a bag
- Company to the door, or into the room with you if you would rather not go alone
- Sitting out the wait with you, with enough time booked for a clinic that runs late
- A second pair of ears in the room, so what was said does not get lost
- Helping you get your own questions in before the appointment is over
- Calling at the chemist on the way back if something has been prescribed
- The next appointment written into the diary at home, not left on a card in a coat pocket
- A word with your family afterwards, if that is what you would like
Who it’s for
- Anyone who dreads the getting-there far more than the appointment itself
- People who come out of a consulting room unable to recall half of what they were told
- Someone whose family cannot keep taking half-days off work
- People with memory trouble, who need somebody in the room who knows the history
- Anyone facing a long hospital appointment they would rather not sit through alone

Questions people ask
- Do you take people to the appointment yourselves?
- Yes. We have our own transport and we can take you there and bring you back, which is the part most people are really asking about. It depends on the appointment fitting into the day, so the more notice you can give us the better. If you use a wheelchair we travel with you in a black cab rather than our own vehicle, and the taxi fare is charged to you.
- Will you come into the appointment with me?
- Only if you want us to. Some people want somebody sitting beside them the whole way through; others want that door firmly shut and a friendly face waiting when it opens again. Both are completely normal and you can decide differently each time.
- Can you explain afterwards what the doctor meant?
- We can go over what was said together, but we will not put our own interpretation on it. If something was not clear, the right answer is to ask them, and we will happily help you get through to the right person to ask.

- Looking after someone else: help for family carers
You are entitled to an assessment of your own needs, free, whatever the person you care for decides. Here is what that means and what else is available.
How it works
Have a chat
Give us a ring or send us a message and tell us what you’re finding difficult. There’s no obligation, and nothing to sign. If it’s urgent, say so: we can sometimes start straight away.
Your first visit is free
We come out to you at home, meet you properly, and write down together exactly what help you want and when. There’s no charge for that visit whether or not you go ahead.
Your assistant starts
Your assistant starts visiting on the days and times we’ve agreed together, and we stay in touch to make sure it’s working for you.
