What we do that others can’t

Most care providers work inside strict policies, insurance limits and rota systems, and there is a long list of things they are not allowed to do. We are small, local and independent, so we can.

The same assistant, every visit, five days a week

You get one consistent assistant who knows your routines, your home and exactly how you like things done, and every one of our assistants is female. We care for you Monday to Friday, and seven days a week for end of life care. Otherwise, at weekends family or a care agency take over, and arranging that is up to you. It means you are always supported, and it is how we come back on Monday rested and keep up the standard of care we are known for.

Double-up visits, with two of our own assistants

When a visit needs two people at once, we send two of our own assistants together. It is something we do often. To our knowledge, we are the only personal assistant service in Wolverhampton that offers it.

An hour minimum, so nobody is rushed

We do not do 15, 30 or 45-minute calls — a quarter of an hour is only enough time to rush somebody through a wash and leave. An hour is time to do it properly. If a visit runs more than 15 minutes over, we have to charge for another hour, because a late finish makes every visit after it late for someone else.

Nails, feet and grooming done properly

Nails cut, shaped and painted in a colour you picked, feet seen to, shaving, hair done the way you wear it, and a bit of makeup if that is you. Most providers are not insured to go near any of it.

Wound care alongside your district nurses

Where your district nursing team knows we are helping, supplies the dressings and creams, and gives us their care plan to work to, we can change dressings between their visits — the difference between continuous care and a gap.

Transport, and days out worth getting up for

We have our own transport and can take you where you need to go, as long as it fits the day. Wheelchair users we accompany by black cab, with the fare paid by you — most providers’ insurance rules all of this out.

You ring us, not a call centre

You speak to the people who actually come to the house — no coordinators, no being put on hold to explain it all again. And for emergencies we are on the end of the phone around the clock.

Honest about our holidays and our prices

We take 6–8 weeks off a year and tell you the dates as far in advance as we can so you can arrange cover, and our rates are published on this website. Neither is normal in this business.

   Give us a ring or send us a message and tell us what you’re finding difficult. There’s no obligation, and nothing to sign. If it’s urgent, say so: we can sometimes start straight away.

   Your first visit is free

   We come out to you at home, meet you properly, and write down together exactly what help you want and when. There’s no charge for that visit whether or not you go ahead.

   Your assistant starts

   Your assistant starts visiting on the days and times we’ve agreed together, and we stay in touch to make sure it’s working for you.
